Knitting in the Round: Beanie Workshop (2-Class Series)

Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Learn the essentials of knitting in the round while making a cozy, classic beanie. In this two-class workshop, you’ll work through the free Ponyfish Beanie pattern (printed for you in class) and build confidence with circular needles and double points.

Class 1:

We’ll get started with the basics of knitting in the round, including:

• Long tail cast on

• Jogless join

• Knitting in the round on circular needles

Class 2:

We’ll shape and finish your beanie by learning:

• Crown decreases

• Switching to double pointed needles or using the magic loop method

• Finishing techniques to complete your hat

Skills Needed:

• Must know how to knit and purl

Materials (not included):

• 1 skein bulky weight yarn

  • Suggested yarn: Chunky by Malabrigo

  • Yarn must be purchased before the first class

  • You may substitute your own yarn if it is bulky weight

• US 10 (6mm) 16" circular needles

• US 10 (6mm) double pointed needles

This workshop is perfect if you’re ready to move beyond flat knitting and want to confidently knit hats and other projects in the round.
